Sacred Services and Events

1)    Saturday, October 25th, Vespers for Saint Demetrios the Great Martyr at 7 pm.

2) Sunday, October 26th, 6th Sunday of Luke - Saint Demetrios the Great Martyr, Orthros and Divine Liturgy starting at 9 am.

Memorials: May their memory be eternal.

3)    Church School Classes Are in Session.

4)    Coffee Fellowship after the services sponsored by the Saint Barbara’s Philoptochos.

5)    GOYA Volleyball, Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.

6)    KANARIS Dance Group practice on Saturday, October 25th at 10 am in the Church Hall.

7)    Little Angels Thursdays from 11 am – 12:30 noon. We look forward to seeing our babies in Church!

8)    Saint Barbara’s Philoptochos Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser: place orders until November 13th, pick up on November 25th. For information, please, call or text Matrona Koutsouras at (516) 567-4077. Complete selection of choices is available at the Church Narthex and our Church Office. Philoptochos meeting on October 16 at 8:00 pm. Breast Cancer Awareness month, please, support this worthy cause. Philoptochos Christmas Party is on December 4 at the Coral House (6:30 pm).

9)    Orthodox Study discussions begin on Thursdays 7:15 pm in our Church Hall.

10)   YAL Greek Night at Opus Steakhouse Saturday, November 1st & 10 pm. Fellowship, drinks and a great time, with an opportunity to meet our friends with whom we share our faith and culture. Young adults are all welcome!

11)  Don’t miss our Saturday, November 15 Glendi, Terrace on the Park!

12)  JOY Costume Party, Saturday, November 1 at 6:30 pm. Thanksgiving craft on Saturday, November 22nd at 2 pm.

13)  Jr. GOYA Giving Back event, on Tuesday, November 11th at 4 pm.

14)  Rev. Nikiforos Fakinos Hellenic School back to School night / open house from October 21st to the 24th.

15) Constantine and Carol Cassis Center Grand Opening Ceremony, Sunday, November 23rd at 9 am, with His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

Saturday, November 15, the Grand Opening Glendi with renowned artists Evangelia and Zan Batist. Enjoy a delicious dinner at Terrace on the Park, with Manhattan views, and a great value. All proceeds will be directed towards the expenses for the furnishing of our Constantine and Carol Cassis Center.

Please, support the 2025 Grand Opening Journal, a historic edition, which will include the names of families and businesses who will provide a donation for an add. Please, call our office to make a donation. All Journal donors will be published and their names will be displayed on the screens of the new Constantine and Carol Cassis Center!

THE CHURCH

The Greek Orthodox Community of Saint Demetrios in Merrick, New York was founded in 1961. On December 1959, under the guidance of the late James (Demetrios) Boulukos a meeting took place with the intention to establish a parish in the South Shore of Long Island.
