1) Sunday of the Paralytic, May 11th, with Orthros and Divine Liturgy starting at 9 am.

2) Church School lessons are in session.

3) Memorial: Vasilios Kalloudis (6 years). May his memory be eternal. 

Events

1) Kanaris dance rehearsal on May 10th.

2) Festival from Thursday, May 15th through the 18th. Delicious food, dancing and music for everyone. We even give our Greek School students the week off from Greek School classes to enjoy the Festival. The only requirement, the children have to come every day to the Festival, speak only in Greek and lead all the dances!

4) The Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan District Olympics will be taking place during Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, 2025 at Suffolk Community College. Registration is open online at www.goado.com .

7) Rev. Nikiforos Fakinos Hellenic School Moving Up Ceremony, May 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th from 4:30 – 7 pm. A great carnival style celebration with games and activities.

8) Rev. Nikiforos Fakinos Hellenic School Graduation Ceremony May 30th at 6 pm.

9) David and Georgia Pereira Church School Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies Sunday, June 1st at 11:30 am.

10) Sunday Night Social at the General / Union for all the amazing people of the Parish, Sunday, June 1st, at 6 pm (Eisenhower Park). Call to make reservations. Limited spaces available.

11) GOYA sunset cruise on Wednesday, June 4th. Please, contact the advisors for reservations. The cruise will include dinner, drinks, and DJ entertainment.

THE CHURCH

The Greek Orthodox Community of Saint Demetrios in Merrick, New York was founded in 1961. On December 1959, under the guidance of the late James (Demetrios) Boulukos a meeting took place with the intention to establish a parish in the South Shore of Long Island.
